is a 501[c] non-profit corporation. We have been in operation since January of 2000. Our mission is to introduce a twelve -step based program to a newly sober individual in a clean, safe environment. People rarely quit abusing drugs and alcohol without getting the proper care and support. Furthermore, many people can not afford to go into a rehab facility and this is where we come in to help. Step One offers a ninety day treatment program that requires clients to agree to get a twelve -step sponsor and attend one Twelve Step meeting daily. Step One has AA, CA, CMA, NA meetings at our main property. Clients must also be willing to get a home group and a service commitment. All of our staff members are recovered addicts and alcoholics and we are more than willing to teach new clients about how the program works.
On April 11, 2007 you took me in off the streets, gave me a bed to sleep in, a roof over my head, hot water to shower with, You even provided me with 3 hot meals a day and a ride to day labor. You didn't seem to mind about the last 5 years I spend on the streets battling my addiction to crystal meth. You didn't seem to mind that I didn't have a dime in my pocket. You did seem to mind that I had sold myself to feed my addiction. You only asked that I try, try and give myself a chance to try something different; to try and work the 12-Steps.
So, I tried. It was so difficult in the beginning, how many times using again cross my mind, but I kept reminding myself of how many people wouldn't give me a chance, when you did; so I kept on trying and I began to see a change. I know you saw it too; you asked me to join you, to help you help others. I agreed. I tried to leave you a little better than I found you, everyday. Your mission became my mission. It was my turn to give back.
Since then 6 years have passed; you look better now than I have ever seen you. We have worked so long and hard together, side by side. We have had a few defeats, but also so many blessings. We have tried to reach as many as we could, to help as much as we could, to help as much as we could.
As I look forward, I have no idea what our future holds, but I know where we have been and what we can accomplish together. We can do it, we just need some help from time to time.
You once asked me to try, now I will ask others to help us try; to try and give someone like me chance.
Thank you for saving my life.
Director Step One Inc.
All of our staff are recovered addicts and alcoholics. Not only do they take the time to meet the needs of the individual, they have all walked through the gates of Step One Inc. feeling lost and alone. They all have one thing in common, though. They have found a new home, a new hope and new sense of purpose here. Our Staff is fully qualified to be of service to others struggling with addiction and alcoholism because they have all fought the same battle you are fighting right now and while at Step One Inc. they have not only found the strength to overcome the power of addiction but also found that you don't have to do it alone ever again.
